Jake is in charge of pre-construction at Threshold Builds. One of the things we identified as a group as a source of pain in construction is the breakdown of communication between architecture and construction. Jake has the spirit of an architect and thinks like a builder. His work centers around listening to the needs of the building users and sifting through all the constraints to lead a project that can be built without compromising the architectural integrity.
The beginning of his journey with buildings was caring for old buildings with his father’s property management company. Seeing the common failures and challenges with poorly detailed buildings had a lasting impression as he ventured out into the trades. Having spent time as a professional painter, mason and carpenter, the variety of skills and expressions in construction drew him back to school to study architecture. After several years in commercial architecture working on some of the largest projects in Dane County, the worlds of construction and architecture have finally collided for Jake. Jake was born and raised in Madison, Wisconsin.
